Currently, the attic above the living room, dining room and kitchen looks like this:
The roof will be removed and the whole section of the house reframed. The chimney will need to be extended as well.
Hopefully some storage space above the bedrooms will be accessible through this new section and thus become the new attic.
The hallway below shows the view from the back bedrooms. The stairs to the new bedroom will be to the left of the steps down (from this picture), and this view will change drastically as the area by the stairs becomes much more open.
